Eric Wu is one of the most popular and richest Entrepreneur who was born on July 14, 1953 in Taipei, Taiwan. Eric Wu attempted to diversify his portfolio in the later years by examining the possibility of buying Taiwan Television Enterprise in December 2005. He then bid at Idee Department Store [zh] in November 2007. In September 2009 The Control Yuan voted to impeach prosecutor Lin Sheng-lin for charges of corruption. The investigation concluded in November 2004. dispute was settled. Thomas gave up his chairmanship at Shinkong Synthetic Fibers Corporation to Eric and was then appointed to the same post within Taishin Financial Holdings. In the process, Eric ceded his proxy votes on the Taishin Financial board to Thomas. The FSC has ruled on December 4, 2004, that there was no gains in financial terms, which means there was there was no insider trading. However, the FSC also ruled it was also found that Taiwan Securities Company had not had final approval to sell securities that were in Shinkong Synthetic Fibers. In the end, Taiwan Securities Company was fined NT$2.5 million. Furthermore, Taishin Financial divested from Taishin Investment Trust, the latter was chaired by Eric.
Wu earned his bachelor’s degree in law at National Taiwan University, and continued his studies in law through Harvard Law School while earning an MBA in business administration from Harvard University. Wu was an attorney at New York before returning to Taiwan and teaching in the law department at Soochow University and led the Taiwan Securities Company [zh] which was an affiliate to Taishin Financial Holdings, as the chairman. Wu kept his leadership roles while serving as a member of the Legislative Yuan. Wu’s older brother Thomas as well as Eugene have also been business people. Wu’s sister Wu Ju-yueh is his eldest siblings. At one point, Eric Wu rented the home of Chiang A-hsin, an entrepreneur and founded Chin Kuang Fu Foundation in 1995.
